Samthar State was a princely state in India during the British Raj. The state was administered as part of the Bundelkhand Agency of Central India. Its capital was Samthar town, located in a level plain in the Bundelkhand region crossed by the Pahuj and the Betwa rivers. ==History== Samthar had formerly been a feudatory ''jagir'' of Datia, obtained by Nuni Shah Rajdhar after having supported Maharaja Ram Chandra of Datia in a dynastic squabble. The founder was Ranjith Singh who in 1760, profiting from the troubled times of the Maratha invasion, proclaimed his state independent and was acknowledged as a Raja by the Marathas. In 1817 Samthar was recognized as a state by the British. The ruling family were Rajputs of the Badgujjar dynasty; they received a sanad of adoption in 1862. In 1884 the state had to cede some territories for the construction of the railways.〔(Rajput Provinces of India - Samthar (Princely State) )〕〔(Imperial Gazetteer of India, v. 22, p. 24. )〕 After India's independence in 1947, the Maharaja of Samthar acceded unto the Dominion of India, which later merged with the Union of India. Samthar, together with the rest of the Bundelkhand agency, became part of the new state of Vindhya Pradesh in 1950. In 1956, Vindhya Pradesh state was merged with other territories to form the state of Madhya Pradesh within the Union of India. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Samthar State」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
